About Me

I’ve always loved crafting. My mom taught me how to knit and crochet when I was young and I’ve been doing both, along with several other crafts, ever since. The only issue I ever had with crafting was that I always ran out of things to make - there are only so many scarfs, hats, and teddy bears I can make for myself or for my nieces, nephews, friends, and family!!

I work full time in an IT role and in the first few months of 2023, I was also in the last phase of a school program - I was spending so much time in front of a computer screen! I was dreaming about getting back in touch with my creative side and appreciating more and more the activities I could do without a screen. At this time, my dog Grover got sick and needed an expensive surgery. The idea of starting Groveybears came together – it offered an outlet for my creative energy, a way to share the items I make with more people, and bring in a little bit of extra money to help out with the cost of Grover’s medical expenses.

Protecting the environment, nature, and wildlife is important to me and I wanted to make business decisions that reflected that. All products are shipped in mailers that are 100% compostable. I also donate a portion of the proceeds to environmental organizations that I believe in. The exact amount donated and the organization chosen will vary based on the product and will be listed in the product description.

What will Groveybears be selling? What you see on the products page will vary over time but could include anything from amigurumi (crochet stuffed animals), crochet bags, home decor (for example: crochet throw pillows, crochet baskets, macrame plant hangers, macrame wall hangings), painted greeting cards, and more!

As a little gallery, some of my favourite projects (prior to starting Groveybears) are pictured below
